Itinerary Summary

Join us for a breathtaking one-day hike to Rutundu and Lake Alice, starting early from Nanyuki. The
adventure kicks off at 6:00 AM with a scenic drive in a 4×4 vehicle toward the Rutundu trailhead on the northeastern slopes of Mt. Kenya. The hike begins at around 8:30 AM, leading us through volcanic cliffs and high moorlands to the charming Rutundu Cabins, a perfect rest point nestled in alpine terrain. From there, we push on to the stunning Lake Alice, a serene crater lake sitting at approximately 3,550 meters above sea level, where we’ll break for lunch and soak in the views.
After exploring the area, we begin our descent, making our way back past Rutundu and down to the
trailhead. We’ll return to Nanyuki by early evening, wrapping up a full day of unforgettable high-altitude hiking and incredible landscapes.

What to carry

  1. Comfortable hiking boots
  2. Long Pants and Long sleeved top/light jacket recommended
  3. Plenty of drinking water 2 – 3 litres
  4. Sunhat, Sunscreen, Sunglasses
  5. Any personal medication
  6. Day Pack /Small Bag to carry your personal items

  8. Rain Gear in case it rains
