MATHEW’S RANGES

The Mathews Range, also known as the Lenkiyio Hills, is a remote and spectacular mountain range rising dramatically out of northern Kenya’s arid lowlands. Covered in dense, ancient forest and bursting with rare wildlife, it’s often called one of Kenya’s last true wildernesses. The range is home to towering cycads, crystal-clear streams, and endemic species found nowhere else on earth.

Itinerary Summary

At its crown sits Warges Peak, the highest point of the Mathews Range, standing at around 2,688 meters above sea level. Although not the tallest mountain in Kenya, the challenge comes from its rugged, wild trails and the untouched beauty of its surroundings. Climbing Warges offers hikers a raw, off-the-beaten-path adventure with sweeping views over Samburu land and beyond. It’s a true hidden gem for those seeking solitude, serious hiking, and an authentic encounter with Kenya’s wild heart.
