Itinerary Summary

Embark on a thrilling one-day hike to Rurimeria Hill, the third-highest peak in the Aberdares and a
favorite for high-altitude hiking enthusiasts. The day begins early with departure from Nairobi or nearby towns, aiming to reach the Ndunyu Njeru trailhead by around 7:30 AM. After a short briefing, the hike kicks off at approximately 8:00 AM, starting with a steep climb through rolling hills and scenic moorlands. As you ascend, you’ll pass through bamboo zones, heather fields, and wide-open ridges offering panoramic views of the Aberdares, Kinangop Plateau, and on a clear day, even Mt. Kenya. The summit, sitting at around 3,860 meters, is typically reached by midday, where we’ll take a well-deserved break, enjoy packed lunch, and soak in the crisp mountain air. Descent begins around 1:00 PM via the same route, with time for photo stops and short rests. By 4:00 PM, we return to the base and begin the journey back, capping off a challenging but incredibly rewarding day in the mountains.
